Issues
Kevin Ford Will Fight for You!
- I will fight to balance our budget through less spending and not higher taxes or fees.
- I will work to direct school resources to the classroom, not a growing bureaucracy. I will demand accountability and promote school choice. I will insist on parental rights in education and work to ensure that boys play sports with boys and girls play sports with girls.
- I will insist on strong laws to make our streets safer and focus on removing violent criminals from our streets. We must focus on victim’s rights not coddling violent criminals.
- I will defend our constitutional rights such as the right to bear arms, the right to life, and I will defend our freedoms as Americans and Marylanders.
Taxes
Maryland’s tax burdens are too high. I will be a consistent vote against new taxes and focus on reducing government spending. Maryland must learn to live within our means. This year, Gov. Moore and his Democrat super majorities raised our taxes by $1.6 billion. I believe Maryland families are entitled to keep more of their hard-earned money and you can count on me to vote against raising your taxes.
Agriculture
District 42 contains some of the most productive farmland in Maryland. We have a rich history in farming and it is a dedicated way of life which must be protected. Maryland agriculture contributes more than $8 billion a year to our economy. Maryland agriculture involves more than 15,400 farms across our state. It is important to protect farmlands from being taken through eminent domain and other assaults like the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project.
Public Safety
Recently, Maryland as well as our country have experienced the problems associated with illegal immigration. We have seen the problems violent illegals have caused in the murders of Rachel Morin, a Harford County mother of 5 and Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old autistic woman. Both of these senseless murders were committed by people who should not have been in our country. I support allowing our local law enforcement offices to work with ICE and oppose all forms of sanctuary counties.
Education
I believe that parents have a right to be involved in the education of their children. I think our schools should focus on the fundamental aspects of a good education by focusing on math, science, language arts, and history. Our children need to be prepared to go to college or go into the workforce with a good, solid education. Our school systems must have accountability, measurable achievements, and a safe learning environment free from distractions. As a father of four, I believe Maryland needs more choice when it comes to education.
